Pasteurisation

Pasteurisation in anaerobic digestion

Pasteurisation in anaerobic digestion involves maintaining category 3 animal by-products (Span C3) in a tank at 70°C for 1 hour after grinding. Pasteurisation eliminates pathogens and reduces undesirable microorganisms in the biogas production process from biowaste.

The inputs must be ground to 12mm in three dimensions to allow them to be evenly heated to 70°C. The objective of pasteurisation is to create an environment where the microorganisms responsible for the decomposition of organic matter do not compromise the safety and quality of the produced biogas. This step is crucial to meet sanitary and environmental standards.
